My name is Bear and I have quite an adventure for you.  I am going to British Columbia this summer.  I have never been to B.C. and am looking forward to it.  I have one slight problem though, I don’t drive so I’m not quite sure how I am going to get there.

I have a friend, Julie, who is going to B.C., with her family this summer.  I think I will try and get a ride with her.  The only problem that I can see is that her parents don’t really like me so they may not let me go.

Well, I talked to Julie and she said that as long as I am well-behaved her parents said that I could go with them. They day of the trip they picked me up in their van and even helped me load ALL my gear. I think I had more gear than they did.

Our first stop was Dorion, Ontario. We stayed at a little campground there called Ouimet Campground for the night. This is a picture of our tent. I don’t think I was very welcome in the tent, especially when I left the door unzipped and let hundreds of mosquitoes in.

That afternoon we visited the famous Ouimet Canyon.  It was very interesting. Julie's parents were looking over the side of the canyon and I know that they were thinking of how they could get rid of me.

We were very excited when we reached the Manitoba border.  We were no longer in Ontario.  Manitoba is the beginning of the prairies, where the land starts to become as flat as a pancake.

We went to Winnipeg to the Assiniboine Zoo and we saw a grizzly bear.  I saw Julie’s step-father look at me and then look over at the bear.

That evening we had dinner at the Assiniboine Park.  I think Julie’s step-father wanted to send me on a Frisbee ride.

I decided that instead of being a meal for the grizzly bear or going on a Frisbee ride that I would stay out of the way.  I hitched a ride on the front of the van.

We finally made it to Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan is a wheat-producing province. Saskatchewan is very flat and is a prairie province. We stopped for lunch at a park right beside the border of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

This is an old wheat pool in Saskatchewan.  Wheat pools are used to store the wheat that the farmers bring until it is loaded on the train to be shipped.

We were all very excited when we got to Alberta.  Alberta is very flat and is another prairie province.

This time I decided that I would take the van myself and go for a drive.  I wanted to get to the mountains and everyone else just wanted to stand around and take pictures.

When Julie’s step-father found out that I was driving the van, he kicked me out and I had to hitch-hike.

I didn’t have to hitch-hike for long because Julie felt sorry for me.  I did say “Thank-You” to her for picking me up.

I was having fun in the back seat of the van.  I listened to music on Julie’s CD player.

I went surfing in one of Julie’s sandals.

I even got to read the map.

Oh, oh, when I was reading the map, I got us lost.  Now, I’m in trouble again.

We were very glad when we finally got to the BC border.  We were only lost for a little while but at least we made it.

This is my friend, Eagle.  We picked her up in Alberta.  Julie’s step-father is not very pleased at all.

We finally arrived in Vancouver, BC.  I was so excited.  I had always wanted to see the Pacific Ocean and now I finally had my chance.

This is Eagle, myself and our new friend RCMP Bear.  We went mountain climbing in BC.  We had so much fun on our trip.  Oh, I can’t wait to take another trip with Julie and her family.
