Charm Bracelet

When I was about 13 years old, my Mother purchased me a charm bracelet. It was a really nice gold bracelet. I'm sure it was very expensive. I remember it was thick, almost like a rope chain and it had a really nice clasp on it. The clasp locked in place once it was on my wrist. To get the bracelet off, I would have to reach underneath the clasp and unlock it.

The first charm I got on my bracelet was for my 13th birthday. It had my birthstone on it. I'm a Sagitarius so the stone was topaz. Each birthday my Mother purchased a different charm for it and when she knew that someone was going out of the country on vacation she got them to bring a charm home for me.

I remember I had a charm on the bracelet from Switzerland. I loved this charm the most. The charm was a little gold ski lift. I remember this charm very well because our neighbour had gone to Switzerland for vacation. Our neighbour was the same age as I was. What I didn't know was that my sister thought I wanted to date our neighbour. She had a huge crush on him. Little did she know that I was not interested in dating our neighbour. All she had to do was ask me and I would have told her this. Instead, my sister held this against me for years.

Getting back to my charm bracelet. I don't know whatever happened to my charm bracelet over the years. I think my sister actually has it but she would never tell me. All I know is I loved my charm bracelet and at least I can cherish it's memory.

My daughters both have or had charm bracelets. Every girl wants a pile of 'bling' on their dresser, it seems. Thanks for sharing the memory of your charm bracelet.

Hi, Great hub. I run an online jewellery store myself which features charm bracelets. They are great pieces which can be added to and as you say - they have a story to tell.

Doll Heart Candy, thank you for your comment, and yes, they certainly do tell a story.
