Cheerios - A Drug

By

I have now heard everything. What is this world coming to? What will be next? I can't believe what I just read. I just read that Cheerios is a drug. You know, that innocent round, with a donut hole, cereal we call Cheerios. The cereal we all ate as kids. Heck, the breakfast cereal I fed to my own children when they were young.

Whatever happened to the innocence of eating a bowl of Cheerios? My children used to love their Cheerios put in a bowl with some milk in it. They used to take their little bowls, which by the way, they never added extra sugar to, and would sit and eat them, watching their favourite cartoons on the television before being bussed to school.

Cheerios is being called a drug because it claims that it can reduce cholesterol. I believe that Cheerios is good for us. I believe that Cheerios is beneficial to lowering cholesteroll but, come on, do we now have to call Cheerios a drug.

I'm sorry, but I am from the old school and when I hear the word 'drug', illegal drugs, crime, distortion, money laundering comes to my mind. How can anyone associate a bowl of Cheerios with crime? How can anyone call Cheerios a drug?

So are we going to be in fear of drug dealers coming around to steal our children's bowl of Cheerios? Are we going to have to fear that our children are going to have to be put in a dry-out center because they have an addiction to Cheerios?

Okay, okay. I know, I am going overboard with the drug thing with Cheerios but sorry Cheerios and drugs should never be put in the same sentence or the same thought.

Well I guess my 3 year old granddaugher is an addict at an unusually age. I feel the same way about the word "drug". This is absolutely a shame, when I first started reading it I though " OMG Aaliyah ate some this morning, should I call the doctor"

Are they going to add oatmeal to the list? Will we soon need a prescrition for Cheerios, oatmeal, fresh vegetables and fruit? They all have the same effect. I just thought I had heard it all.

Amy M thank you for your comment and yes, I wonder about prescriptions and I thought I had heard it all too.

First, ketchup is a vegetable, now Cheerios is a drug. I guess they're going to bring me up on animal abuse charges, I used to have pet mice and I used to give them Cheerios as a treat.

Thank you for your comment, F C, yes it is crazy isn't it.
