Coke Zero Health Risks

Coke Zero Health Risks
Coke Zero health risks are not really surprising to me. Have you ever tasted it? I have and I didn't like it at all. Coke Zero has been banned in Venezuela due to potential health risks. Coca-Cola, however, states that there are no health risks.
I am an avid Coca-Cola fan. That is pretty much all I drink. I love coke, I love the taste, I love the bubbles as they go down your throat, I just love coke, okay.
Sure, I know coke is bad for me. It has tons of calories, tons of sugar, loads of caffeine. However, I don't drink coffee or tea. I do not like hot drinks at all.
When I first heard that Coke was coming out with a new product, Coke Zero, I thought good. Maybe I can still drink coke and yet not have all the bad things that go with it. I bought a nice, ice-cold bottle of it. I undid that cap, took a slug and spit it right back in the bottle. It was disgusting. It has aspartame in it. I hate the taste of aspartame. It leaves a taste in your mouth for hours afterwards. Ewww!!!

Thank you for your comment, Kmadhav. I'm not sure what you meant by that, whether that was a good comment or a bad comment or a just kidding comment. :)
dwilliamson you wrote good hub .. I am regular reader of your hubs..you are doing good work..
Thank you Kmadhav, I just wanted to make sure you like my writing :) and thank you for being my fan. I will make sure I keep writing good hubs.
what is coke zero supposed to do to you?
hi cindyvine, coke zero has zero calories and zero sugar.
I am sitting here drinking cherry coke zero right now and I love it. I tried giving up soda for good but I am addicted to it.
natalie, I never got into the flavoured drinks, I just like plain old coca-cola
The first time I tried Coca-Cola Zero I hated it too. But since trying a couple times and feeling my memory problems may have been from too much 'regular' diet coke, I have come to like Coca-Cola Zero. I think my memory problems are getting better. Just do not know if it's a new herb I'm taking or the soda switch. (I still enjoy my diet Dr Pepper sometimes too.) Probably anything not natural - including synthetic medications will have some unwanted side effect.
Oh, and speaking of bad tasting - remember when TAB first came out?! That was something I thought would never take off. But here we are in the diet soda revolution. LOL
thank you for your comment stl_gurl I actually tried Coke Zero twice and both times, ewwww!!! I'm sorry but I just do not like the aspartame in it. Yes, and I remembered Tab, and again ewwwww!!! I'm just not a fan of diet drinks.
The newest beverage I've tried is Propel Blueberry Pomegranate. Since it has too much sweetness I 'dilute' it with Glaceau SmartWater. I think it's just enough taste to get me to drink more water. :)
stl_gurl, that is a good tip. I've never tried Propel. Is it an energy drink?
errr, good question. I don't see that on the label. Propel bottle says "vitamin enhanced water beverage". (The SmartWater says "electrolyte enhanced water", but does not give value breakdown on ingredients.)
stl_gurl I just read that Propel is an energy drink and you say there is no breakdown on ingredients. Energy drinks have lots of sugar in them.
I don't know much about the water drinks. I guess I didn't find the diet soda I wanted in the mini-frig near to the store check out lane, so I picked up what sounded most appealing. I love blueberries and heard pomegranate is good for us - so that was the Propel drink. (The Glaceaue SmartWater is the label with little nutrition information. It's vapor distilled water without the percentage breakdown on the added electrolytes. I have it because I'm trying to get a sick pet to eat and drink again.... I drank it because it sounded interesting. Bland alone, but great with the flavored Propel water.)
I would just be careful about drinking energy drinks
ok, thanks for the heads up. Have a great day!
so what are the health risks associated with coke zero?
stl_gurl you have a good day too. Teresa, coca-cola says there isn't any but the Venezuelan government says there is but they don't say what health risks. I think it has something to do with aspartame
Why would people want to drink this?
Hi Rochelle, thanks for the link and I think people drink it because Coca-Cola claims to have the same great taste but zero calories and zero sugar
I guess. Sure seems like it would be better if people didn't drink any of it. The ingredients in "soft" drinks just seem harmful. They certainly aren't food. I don't drink them any more.
sorry Rochelle but I am guilty of drinking regular Coke. I am pretty sure I am addicted to it hee hee cause that is all I drink. It is all I like to drink.
uhmm.. you don't state what the health risks are of coke zero??
I personally enjoy coke zero and also pepsi max... can you please explain what the health risks are?
hey negacrowbar, as far as the health risks go Coca-Cola says there isn't any and the Venezuelan government says that there are health risks but they didn't say what they were.
Hi there.I like coke zero and really got used to it. Now when I taste a normal coke (classic) ewww taste like eating a spoon of sugar! Dont like Coke light, leaves a strange taste in my mouth, but doesnt happen with Zero... as for venezuelan bann on the product is not based on any new studies or findings, just an email going all over the world saying is produces cancer, and that perhaps is true (we are talking about an artificial product is not water or natural orange juice we shouldnt drink only coke) or maybe is just a hoax...
LEo, thank you for your comment. You are correct, we shouldn't just drink Coke. I have tried drinking other things now like vitamin water and juices.
I tried DIET COKE and can't stand it because it has no taste except for aspartame. EW! But I am absolutely hooked on Coke Zero. This revelation didn't start until I finished an entire 20 oz bottle of the stuff. Now I can't tell the difference in taste between it and the real thing. Sprite Zero tastes terrible, it has a bad chemical aftertaste but Coke Zero, seems to me to have just the real Coke aftertaste, like cloves/cherry/vanilla type of lingering taste. That's how it tastes to me, anyway! I think Coke Zero is great!
drinker, thank you for your comment. It must be my taste buds because I just don't like it.
You prefer having a thick coating of crap on your teeth for hours afterwards if you don't brush after each sip of normal coke rather than the very slight taste difference with coke zero? Coke Zero also leaves absolutely nothing on your teeth after drinking.
I am a diabetic and that's the only reason I drink Coke Zero or Pepsi Max. I was only recently diagnosed with high blood sugar. Before, it was only Pepsi and Pepsi products for me. I'd only drink Coke if there was no Pepsi. Either way, both brands carry a lot of sugar. I still believe that it's not only the drinks, yet the foods they are making and the things being put into them that are causing more people to get diabetes more often than before. Any comments on that?
I have HFI and can't drink or eat anything with fructose due to lack of an enzyme in liver needed to break it down. I avoided all diet sodas in past even though I could drink them but I did not like the taste. A friend with diabetes convinced me to try Coke Zero and I love it. It's the only soda I drink.
Rick in China, I don't get a thick coating of crap on my teeth when drinking Coke. Matt78, thank you for your comment. I agree that the things being put into drinks and foods are causing diabetes and also other diseases. I have been cutting back on Coke over the past 5 months. I am just trying to make healthier choices. HF1687, thank you for your comment. For me, I don't have diabetes and when I do drink Coke I still prefer it over other beverages. I do believe that you should drink and eat everything in moderation.
In fact, there is no conclusive evidence that Coke Zero is bad for you, in moderation. Granted, there are better choices out there, but the occasional CZ shouldn't harm your health.
Dani, thank you for your comment. I think pretty much everything is okay for us in moderation.
Hey Dani, Coke Zero is bad for you because it haas Aspartame in it. If you don't know by now Aspartame is extremely toxic to your body. Look it up on Wikipedia sometime and you'll see. Regular soft drinks are bad for you because of the Fructose Corn Syrup which is 10X worse for you than regular sugar. Reason they use Fructose corn syrup is because it's cheaper.
Mike, thank you for your comment. I agree with you 100%.
I don't know what's in it, but my heart starts racing and I get sick. Tried it several times. Scary. I will stick with diet coke.
crawdaddct, thank you for your comment. I don't like diet coke because I don't like the taste of aspartame. I will stick to the old fashioned plain Coca-Cola.
After drinking an average of 4 or 5 Coke Zeros per week for the past 2 months the insides of my cheeks became almost raw and swollen. Coke Zero was the only new thing I had put in my mouth during this time period. I quit drinking it completely 6 days ago, and my mouth is now back to normal. I liked Coke Zero but will not be drinking it in the future.
Diane, thank you for your comment. I am sorry that you had to experience that. I am glad your mouth did get better though.
