Green Green Grass

There is nothing nicer than going outside and seeing that you have the "perfect" lawn. By a perfect lawn, I mean having green grass and the lawn perfectly cut and trimmed.
The house I currently live in didn't have green grass when we moved here last spring. We laid down some top soil and then we purchased some sod. Once we had the sod all laid out, our lawn was very green and it looked perfect. However, that was until my cute little doggie, Ice, started laying on the grass. Ice left brown spots all over the lawn from where he laid down on it. Another thing that Ice did was run like a mental case through the lawn. He loved to grab his tennis ball and run around the lawn with the ball in his mouth.
There was some really nice green spots of grass on our lawn and then there were the brown spots caused by Ice. If there was a contest for a patchwork lawn, our lawn would have won the contest hands down. It definitely needed some work.
My husband decided that he would lay some old fencing on the lawn, after he seeded the lawn with some grass seed. After a few weeks, we had our "perfect" lawn again. The fence kept Ice off the lawn and allowed the new grass seed to grow properly.
This spring, our lawn looks patchy in places again. We are laying the fence down again and are putting grass seed on it too. In a few weeks we should have our "perfect" lawn again.
We only have a small yard. All of our yard is in the front of our house. The back of the house has about a one foot strip of there but that is all weeds back there. The one side of the house has about a one foot strip and the other side of the house has the driveway.
For us, owning a dog and having a "perfect" lawn don't go hand in hand because our lawn is so small so, we have to try to make do with what we have. We can try to patch up the grass with grass seed but definitely I know that Ice will be on that lawn again as soon as the fence is removed.
It is not Ice's fault by any means. If I was Ice, I'd want to lay down on the lawn too. We just have a very small lawn and a medium sized dog.

Doggie! =)
I keep the world's smallest dog breed...rats. =)
A green lawn is indeed hard to keep, have you seen that astroturf stuff they're trying to sell to home owners? Fake grass..no need to water or cut!
Good hub. I landed here while viewing my hub Green Green Grass of Home.
Thanks
