Elder Care

I have helped out several elderly people in my days. As a matter of fact, just this morning I helped a really nice older woman. I believe that elder care is very important and that we should care and/or help out the elderly as much as we can.

I had to drop off a form to my doctor and this older woman was wanting to get on the elevator. I held the elevator door open for her both getting on the elevator and getting off it.

The older woman had a walker and was walking pretty slowly. We both got off on the same floor. Once we got off the elevator she asked me if she was in my way. I laughed, holding my back because of pain and said no I'm walking about the same speed as you are, probably even a bit slower.

The woman laughed and said she hopes I get better soon and I said the same to her too. She told me that she has been suffering with her walking for about ten years now. I thought to myself that it has been twenty years for me. I didn't want to mention that to the lady though.

I do like to help out the elderly though. They always seem to appreciate any help I have given them. You can tell this by the way they talk to you or the way they smile at you.

After I spoke to that older woman, I felt pretty sad about my own situation. Here I am, way younger than her and yet I was in worse shape than she was. Pretty sad.
