Aromatherapy, Holistic Alternative Medicine

Aromatherapy is a form of holistic alternative medicines.  Holistic is an approach to how medical treatment should be applied. Aromatherapy is one such approach. Aromatherapy is soothing and relaxing. It uses the sense of smell to relieve stress, which can only improve your health.

Aromatherapy uses oils from plants to provide a sense of well-being, both psychological and physical through inhalation or can be applied directly to the skin. Essential oils are used in this process. Essential oils are oils extracted from the stems, leaves, bark and roots of plants. Essential oils are not the same as perfumes. Perfumes contain artificial scents whereas essential oils are the true essence of the plant. Essential oils are very highly concentrated.

The oils from different plants have different effects on our bodies. Lavender can be used to treat skin and sinus infections. Lemon can be used to soothe sore throats. With aromatherapy as in any alternative medicine, you want to make sure you are using it safely.

Thanks for bringing my attention to this. I always thought holistic medicine has to do with something holy, but now I know it's more about looking at things as a whole. :)

Great video too.
