Installing Windows 7 on a Netbook

By

I love Windows 7. I have been using it for the last couple of months on my desktop. I have not had any problems with it. All the drivers for all my devices work with it. I love the look of Windows 7 and I like the feel of it. It works and it works good.

I purchased an Acer Aspire One netbook and have always wanted to install Windows 7 on it only was afraid to. I read several different articles on how to do it but it always seemed like such a tough process so I never bothered.

The thing that seemed to be the problem with installing it on my netbook was that the netbook does not have a dvd or cd drive. I have heard that you can get flash drives and install the operating system on it. I have flash drives but they are nowhere near the size I need. I was able to solve that problem and actually it was fairly easy to do. First thing I did was share my dvd drive on the network. Then I went to my netbook and mapped the dvd drive to it. Once the dvd drive was mapped I popped in the Windows 7 dvd and on my netbook I clicked on setup. Installing Windows 7 did take a couple of hours but it did work.

I am amazed at how good Windows 7 does work on the netbook. Everything is a lot smaller and there is a little bit of a performance issue, things load up a little slow, but then my netbook only has 1 gig of RAM which, I did find out is upgradeable to 1.5 gigs but I would have to tear my whole little netbook apart to do that.
