Kamloops BC

Kamloops, BC is where I am presently living. Kamloops, BC is located at the northern section of the Okanagan Valley. The Okanagan Valley is home to Canada's only desert.

Kamloops got it's name from the meeting of the two rivers. The South Thompson River and the North Thompson River meet in Kamloops. Kamloops has different sections to it. There is the North Shore, where I live, Valleyview, where I work, Aberdeen, Sahali, Brockelhurst, Dallas, Barnhartvale, Westsyde and Batchelor Heights.

There are two main bridges to get around the city. One is the Overlander bridge which takes you from North Shore to the City Center. The other bridge is the Halston. It takes you from the North Shore to the reservation.

I have lived in Kamloops for 4 years now. I like living here a lot. The summer weather is so hot and dry and that is what I like the most. We have a huge Grasslands Park, which has acres and acres of mountains and also sage brush. The wildlife that we have around here is bald eagles, golden eagles, bear, chukars and marmots.

There is a lot of ranch land around Kamloops. During the summer months, because of the extreme heat, ranchers must irrigate their fields. Otherwise they would just dry up to dust.

Kamloops does get quite a few dust storms. I have seen several of them and some of them can be pretty severe. It is impossible to see in front of you.

All in all, Kamloops is a beautiful place to live and I am proud to say I live here.

My son had visited vineyards in B.C. and was warned about rattle snakes, I didn't even know. He plans on college out there and most likely living there because it is so beautiful. :)

Dame Scribe, thank you for your comment. Yes, there are rattle snakes here in BC however, I've been here four years now and have not seen any and BC is an awesome place to live, very beautiful.
