Mother's Day Roses

Do you like to give your mother roses for Mother's Day and if so, why?

When my mother was alive, I used to like giving her roses for Mother's Day. The reason I liked giving her roses is because she really liked them. Her favourite rose was the sweetheart rose. She would be so thrilled to get a dozen sweetheart roses for Mother's Day, or any special occasion.

The funny thing about my mother and roses though was that as much as she liked them she was allergice to them. I remember one year I gave her roses and she called me when she received them saying that she loved them but her eyes were all watery from them.

I felt absolutely horrible that I made her eyes water and now that I think back on it, I wonder if her eyes were watery because she really was allergic to them or were they watery because she was crying because I got them for her. I have a feeling that it was the later reason because we had all gotten roses for her for many years. Although, I do realize that people can develop allergies later in life.
