My First Mother's Day

Do you remember your first Mother's Day?

My first Mother's Day would have been in 1985, the year my son was born. My son would have only been one month old then. I don't remember my then husband doing anything special for me for Mother's Day and if he did, well I don't remember it and that just shows how much it meant to me.

What I do remember about that first Mother's Day was that it was filled with love for me with having my month old son with me. There was nothing that meant more to me than my two children, absolutely nothing. I love my two children more than anything in this entire world.

Throughout the years, my children have always brought me joy on Mother's Day in someway or another. Whether it was a homemade card that they made for me at school or some kind of craft, I know deep in my heart that they both loved me very much and that is all that mattered to me as a Mother.

My own Mother is no longer here with me anymore and so Mother's Day has not been the same for me since she passed away in 2001. I've felt emptiness on Mother's Day, as well as anger that she is gone and that I can't tell her I love her anymore.

I am now going to be a grandmother for the first time this August so next Mother's Day is going to mean something totally different for me. I am really looking forward to the birth of my grandson. It is going to give me a whole new purpose to life and a whole new meaning to it too.

Hi K.D. Clement, thank you so much for your comment. It is true that I treasure my family very much. My two children mean the world to me. I have made mistakes over the years, as I am sure we all have. Nothing will ever come between the love I have for my two children as well as the pride I have for them. Both of them, my son 24 and my daughter 22 are doing very well for themselves. My son is going to be a father this August. He just got a promotion at his job. My dauughter is working very hard, putting herself through college. Both my children grew up to be hard-working and they both have the respect for others that I instilled in them.

Congratulations on the soon arrival of your first grand child. How exciting. May the face of this wee one reflect the face of his/her grandmother, and comfort you in the days to come. God Bless.

Thanks for your comment, R Burow. I am definitely looking forward to the birth of my first grandson. His birth comes at a time when our family needs him the most. I have been through torture and pain for the past three years.
