What My Mom Taught Me
67What My Mom Taught Me
Over the years, my Mother taught me to be kind to others. She taught me to respect others. she taught me to work hard. She taught me to never take adavantage of anyone. I have instilled these values that my Mom taught me in my own life.
I truly believe that being kind to others is an important value in life because I believe that you should treat others the way you yourself would like to be treated.
My Mother taught me to respect others. To this day, I respect other people. I respect their differences, their opinions and their cultures. We are all different in some way. Even though my Mother and I may have had our differences when she was alive, I respected her too. I respected her decisions and I respected her authority. There is a lot of disrespect in life today and it is sad how some people disrespect others so badly.
My Mother was a very hard-working person. I can remember she would go to work all day, come home and cook and clean for when Dad got home. In her later years, she couldn't do these things any longer and I know it bothered her very much. I am the same way. No matter how much pain I am in or how tired I am, I always make sure my house is clean and meals are cooked.
My Mother taught me never to take advantage of anyone. She taught me that if you want something in life you have to work hard for it. She taught me that you should always try to accomplish things in your life on your own and not to rely on others because as soon as you rely on someone else to help you, chances are you will be let down and hurt. Over the years, I have seen so many people take advantage of others and it is sad.
I wish my Mother was still alive today because I would definitely thank her for what she taught me. It is funny how as children and teens we think our Mothers are crazy but as adults having raised our own children, we know now what they were talking about.

What you say is so true. I even discovered that when I was in, say, my thirties and had my "secret opinions" about some of my mothers choices, once I got to her same "place" in life, I then understood them and even saw things the same way. :) No matter how old we, "kids", are, we never quite know as much as think we do. :)
