Olympic Red Mittens
Olympic Red Mittens

Deep in my heart, the only thing I wanted for Christmas this year was a pair of Olympic red mittens. Did I get them for Chrismtas? No, of course not. Santa Claus has a vandetta against me for some reason and I am not sure why.

Okay, so I didn't get the Olympic red mittens for Christmas. However, it wasn't because I didn't go out myself and look for them. I went to Zellers here in Kamloops, BC, twice before Christmas. Zellers was teasing me I swear because they had the red mittens there alright, but they were the smallest ones ever and they definitely did not fit me.

Did I give up on my quest to get my red mittens? Ha! Me, give up! Never. When I get something in my mind, I don't give up until I figure out a way of getting it. Now, it is just about time for the Olympic torch to be running through Kamloops, like in about five days time. I want to be there when the torch comes through my city and have since I first learned that the torch was going to run clear across Canada.

Hearing about the festivities of the upcoming torch run, it renewed my interest in wanting a pair of Olympic red mittens. It didn't help that I had heard on the news that every school-aged child in the city of Vancouver was given a pair of Olympic red mittens. So, today, I decided I would try going to The Bay and try my luck there. Well, finally, I was able to get my Olympic red mittens. In fact, I bought two pairs. I am sending one pair to my daughter, Jen, who lives in Ottawa, Ontario.

I am so glad I was able to get my Olympic red mittens. Now, I can show my support for my country and our athletes when our torch runs through our city next week. I want to be there when the torch runs through and hopefully I will be able to. However, I am not counting on it because I have been having severe back pain issues and am off work right now because of it. It will be just my luck that I will get up in the morning of the torch relay and not be able to move. If that happens, I am going to be so disappointed because the only thing I am looking forward to now, is seeing the Olympic torch and getting a picture of it.
