Summer in Kamloops, BC

The city that I live in is called Kamloops. Kamloops is situated in the northern section of the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada's most westerly province. The Okanagan Valley is the home of Canada's only desert. During the summer, the weather is very hot and also very dry. For instance, today is June 5 and it was 33 degrees Celsius, which is 91.4 Fahrenheit.

The city of Kamloops itself is very pretty. Kamloops sits between two rivers, the North Thompson River and the South Thompson River. These two rivers meet in Kamloops.

Downtown Kamloops has lots of nice shops and offices. Kamloops is surrounded by mountains and it is a very beautiful city to live in. Kamloops is divided up into different sections. I live in the area called the North Shore, which by the way is the area on the north side of the South Thompson River. North of where I live is Westsyde. South west of where I live there is section called Aberdeen. Aberdeen has most of the major department stores, electronic stores and clothing stores. The Two Rivers Universit is also in Aberdeen. From Aberdeen is another section called Sahali. To the east is Valleyview. Just south from where I live is the Brockelhurst section.

There are two bridges connecting the city of Kamloops to the North Shore. The one bridge that you take from Highway 5 is quite rickety. The Overlander Bridge, which you can get from downtown is a lot more modern than the bridge on Highway 5.

There is a nice big park right on the South Thompson River and a few minutes walk from the downtown section. It is called Riverside Park. Riverside Park is a huge park. There is a beautiful rose garden at the park as well as a Japanese garden. Both gardens are spectacular. Throughout the summer months, concerts are held at Riverside Park for free.
