We all wish we had the perfect mother, but what exactly would make a perfect mother?
To me, a perfect mother would be someone who listened to me when I spoke instead of putting me down and telling me that all my ideas were crazy and would never work. The perfect mother would be someone who was there for me when I needed her the most, you know, a shoulder to cry on, not someone who caused me a lot of pain. The perfect mother would be someone who treated all of us equally and not favoured one sibling over the other. The perfect mother would be someone who loved me, not just because I was her daughter, but loved me for who I really am.
My Mother and I had our differences and neither one us was perfect by any means. However, she was my Mother. She gave birth to me and she did love me very much. I know see that all my Mother wanted what was best for me even though she sometimes had a strange way of showing it. I loved and respected my Mother very much.
My Mother passed away on July 31, 2001 and I miss her terribly. I don't think I have ever gotten over her death and I probably never will. I don't think I told my Mother how much I loved her often enough. Happy Mother's Day, Mom and even though you are no longer here with us anymore, I love you with all my heart and soul.

Glad to hear because I can't tell my Mother anything anymore because she isn't here anymore but I think she is still here in spirit and when things go wrong for me, I look for her spirit to guide me.

Such sweet sentiment. I spent many years in an abusive marriage (working on divorce right now, after 12 1/2 years) and he rarely allowed me to be around my mother. He didn't approve of her past, therefore to him, she didn't exist. Her and I haven't always had the best relationship either but I love her and she loves me. I miss her. I've seen her a couple times in the last few months but I'm not going to ever let her think I'm avoiding her again. You never know when they'll be gone. And my asshole ex will never take that from me, thank God.
