When Was the Last Time You Went to a Dance?

The last time I went to a dance was when I was about 22 years old. I used to like dancing very much. I have congenital chorea, a muscle nerve disorder. I was always so conscious of my dancing. I knew I wasn't a good dancer but I always hoped that nobody thought I was a horrible dancer and I always hoped they wouldn't laugh at me.

Nobody ever did laugh. It was just me. I always think the worst is going to happen. I am a worry wart. I always thought to myself about how I would escape the dance floor if even one person laughed at me because I would have been so embarrassed that I probably would never dance again.

For me, dancing was good exercise. I used to dance to the old seventies rock music like Bob Seger, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Neil Young.

I don't dance anymore and I haven't danced in years. However, I do feel my feet start moving whenever I hear that old favourite music of mine. To this day, I still love rock 'n roll music. My favourite bands right now are still the same ones I used to listen to plus 54-40, Oasis, Tragically Hip and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I tend to listen to the music of one band at a time for months on end and then I go onto another band. Right now, 54-40 is the band I listen to the most. I love the songs Blue Sky and Golden Sun. I also love the fact that they are Canadian.

I may not ever dance again. However, I will always love my rock 'n roll music.

dwilliamson, I like the Tragically Hip as well. Even though you have some limitation with dancing, you can still move your feet and hands, so dancing is still possible.

Check out my most recent hub about disco dancing.

Hee hee, I am always finding my feet tapping to the beat. One day they were tapping so hard that I actually was hurting my back.

I am a ridiculous spectacle when I dance, but my wife tolerates me. Our Jewish celebrations almost always involve dancing, usually badly. At my daughters recent Bat Mitzvah, my Kung Fu teacher danced with her (and his, actually) dance teacher, That was a sight to see! They could "cut a rug" as they say...

Thank you for your comment, Tom. That must have been some sight to see.
