Why My Kitten Made Me Cry
65The other day I was sitting at my computer desk when I felt this little bundle of fur crawling up my leg. I stopped typing, pulled the keyboard in and looked at Arrow. His little face makes my heart melt.
Arrow continues his climb up my leg and he continues to climb right up until he is on my chest. He sits and looks at me with his big wide eyes and then he starts to purr. He purred and purred.
I smiled to myself and with one hand, cuddled him in as close to me as I could get him. With the other hand, I clicked on Internet Explorer with my mouse button and I typed into Google, with one hand, of course, "Why Do Kittens Purr?".
Meanwhile, Arrow continued to purr so loudly. He ended up falling asleep right where he was. I began to read one of the results that came up on Google and what I read brought tears to my eyes. What I read was kittens can purr if they are happy and they can also purr if they are dying.
Dying!!! Oh my!!! I burst into tears at that point. I know that if my little baby Arrow died on me, I couldn't handle it. I love that little kitten to pieces. Now, I know Arrow is fairly healthy. He did have one problem with diarrhea when I first got him but I cured that. He seemed to be just fine to me.
A few minutes later, after I cried my eyes out, I came to the conclusion that Arrow was just purring right then because he was happy. Arrow does love to be right with me no matter where I am, even if I am in the washroom. I can be sitting on the toilet and he jumps on my lap and kisses me on my nose. Arrow sleeps right on my head at night. I know he is happy and I know he is going to have a long life ahead of himself with me but just reading that bit about kittens purring when they are dying made me so sad and made me seriously think of what would happen if I lost my little baby. I would be so sad.
SO, now I treasure each moment I have with Arrow. When he comes over for a cuddle, I stop what I am doing and cuddle him. I spoil him, I know I probably shouldn't, but I can't help it. It also doesn't help matters with the fact that he is so cute!!!

Nothing will every come between me and Arrow, nothing.

one thing I have found with pets you always get more out than you put in they enrich our lives in so many ways
Oh, this is wonderful!!
I can totally identify with this...:-)
Wonderful article!!
I have one of our cats purring on the desk in front of the computer right now..........our Top Cat! Wrote a hub about him but it could be a continuing saga. Ha!
So nice to hear that you love your Arrow. May you have many happy years together.
My dad made me return my kittens back to the friend they originally belonged to as he doesn't like pets. I cant stop crying. I miss them so much. They were my babies.
One of my kitten used to jump on my lap too when I was using the computer but after I trimmed her nails she couldn't. So it'd walk up to the chair, look up and meow. I'd pick it up, pet her, but she'd begin to cry again if I used my hands for the keyboard instead or set her down on the floor. She was so sweet.
dwilliamson, consider getting another male kitten of Arrow's age. Sometimes we forget that they also need furry friends to play and bite, not just human parents. My first kitty was so happy after I brought her sister home. They both fought a few days over territory but then they'd sleep together. They loved each other.
Give my love to Arrow. He's super adorable.
Do kittens really purr when they are dying? That's so sad! I always associated purring with happiness!
Two of my cats like to sleep on my lap while I'm at the computer, too. They take turns. Hehe. :) And all three of them wriggle their way under my blanket and sleep snuggled up against me when I sleep at night. :) I don't look at them as pets, they're part of the family. :)
And Sam is right, dwilliamson. Arrow would really love a playmate who's "his own size". :) My three cats have so much fun chasing each other around and chewing on each other's ears that I want to join in on the fun sometimes! Hehe. :D
Oh, you didn't mention you had other cats. :) I'm sure driving each other crazy is just part of the fun for them. Hehe. :D
He is adorable - I have a sneaking feeling that he is going to be mischeif when he is older! Suleyman is always up to something, but he is too cute to be mad at for long.
As the Greeks say, I wish you 'Many Years.' :)
Your kitten is adorable. :)

I know the feeling. I don't know what I would do without my dogs!
