Springtime

Springtime is a nice time of year. It is the time of year when the weather gets warmer and the grass starts to turn green. For me, springtime is freshness and renewal. Springtime is the time of year for new birth. Most animals have their young ones in the spring.

After winter is over I really look forward to spring. I don't like the coldness of winter. I don't like snow or ice or sleet. Winters are pretty rough on me physically.

In the spring we get our lawn ready for the summer months. We plant flowers and rake up any dead grass. We also plant some grass seed so that we will have a nice green lawn for summer. We get the barbecue cleaned up and take our lawn furniture and set it up.

It is so nice to have a yard to work with. I've lived in an apartment that had no balcony whatsoever so if you wanted to get out and get some fresh air you would have to drive somewhere. It was nice to go for a drive though because I do live in the most beautiful province in Canada, British Columbia.

This spring though, I don't feel like going for a drive much. I mean what is the point when I have my own yard, a mountain right across the street from me and all the wildlife I could ever want.

Hi dWilliamson, I assumed the BC has milder weather than Ontario, but I suppose that is not the case. I too like spring. I feel renewed, energized and full of anticipation of what the next month - May-August hold. It means vacation and travel for me and the family.

Tell me something, what flowers do you plant? Do you also plant vegetables?

Hi DynamicS. Thanks for the comment. Yes, our winters are usually milder, however, this winter has been terrible from coast to coast. We plant daffodils and last year I planted some rose bushes. I'm hoping they will come up again this year. We are going to plant tomatoes, cucumbers, beans etc. this year.

dWilliamson, thanks for being a fan. It seems like the last 3 winters hae been really bad. The snow banks were so high that I could hardly see my neighbour's drive way.

I have a few rose plants as well and they have started to come to life. I usually plant tomatoes, green peppers and cucumbers.

Check out my hub about Road trip...I love western Canada.

I am actually from Ontario, originally. I moved out here to BC four years ago. I love it out here. I will check out your hub on Road trip. We don't have any snow but the weather is still pretty cool for this time of year.
