What type of Music do you Like?
70Music
Music is a part of our world and I, for one, am glad it is. I love listening to music.
1. What is your favourite type of music?
Me - My favourite type of music is rock and roll. I love the 70's rock the best. I grew up on it and I will love rock and roll forever.
Jen - I don't listen to a lot of music and I don't have a favorite type of music. When I hear a song I like I listen to it.
Me - How do you find songs that you like?
Jen - Sometimes when we are driving Adam will have the radio on. If I hear a song I like I'll try and get the name of the song. This is usually the only way I find new songs that I like.
2. What is your favourite artist or band of all time?
Me - I think my most favourite band is The Eagles. I used to listen to them in my car, driving to work each morning.
Jen - I thought your favorite was Neil Young? I have a list of various favorite songs but I don't have a favorite band. when I like one song from a band I usually don't like the rest of their songs.
Me - Long before I liked Neil Young, I liked the Eagles, hee hee.
Jen - I guess I just heard you listening to the Eagles while I was growing up.
3. What are your five favourite songs of all time?
Me - My most favourite song of all time is Hotel California by the Eagles, Knocking on Heaven's Door by Guns and Roses, Jack and Diane by John Mellancamp, Four Strong Winds by Neil Young and Against the Wind by Bob Seger.
Jen - I am not sure what songs I would list here.
Me - Okay, what is your most favourite song of all times?
Jen - My most favourite song, right now, is Drops of Jupiter by Train.
Me - I will have to listen to that song. I have never heard of it or Train.
Jen - it's a nice song to listen too.
4. Does music make you feel happy or sad?
Me - I don't think music makes me feel happy or sad. If I am happy at the time, I will choose happy songs to listen to. If I am sad at the time, I will choose sad songs to listen to.
Jen - the only time music has a play on my emotions is when I start listening to sings I used to listen to when I was younger and my family was whole or at least partially whole.
Me - What song do you remember listening to?
Jen - Just a lot of the older songs, I can't remember a specific song right now. When my brother and I lived at dads we would sit in his room some nights and listen to music.
5. Have you been influenced by music all your life?
Me - Yes, I have been influenced by music all my life. My grandfather played the organ and the violin and my grandmother played the ukele. My dad plays guitar, harmonica and bango and a whole bunch of other instruments. I grew up listening to music my whole life.
Jen - I wouldn't say that I have been influenced by music my whole life. Of course my parents listened to music while I was growing up and my brother started playing guitar in his teens but I wasn't influenced by it. I don't listen to music very often and I'm not musically talented myself.
Me - I remember you playing the flute. You were pretty good at it too.
Jen - I was good at playing the beginner/basic stuff but when I got to Grade 9 and started playing the harder things I could never get the hang of it. I sucked horribly and would mess up the entire class to the point where they made me take extra one on one lessons.
Me - Well I give you a lot of credit for trying. I wish I had learned to play the guitar. Maybe some day I will.
Jen - That would be neat. It's never too late to learn something new.
6. What is your least favourite type of music?
Me - I think my least favourite type of music is rap and hip hop. I don't like either of them.
Jen - I don't think I have a least favorite type of music. I don't spend much time exploring various types of music.
7. What is the first song that you can remember from your childhood?
Me - I really don't remember the exact very first song but I do remember that I listened to a lot of country and western music as I was growing up and that is because that is what my parents listened to.
Jen - I remember listening to a lot of Pink Floyd as I was growing up. One of the first songs I remember listening to was Little Pink Houses by Pink Floyd.
Me - Ummm. I am sorry but Little Pink Houses wasn't a Pink Floyd song. It was a John Mellencamp song, but you were right. We did listen to a lot of Pink Floyd too. We used to listen to The Wall, by Pink Floyd.
Jen - Yea, I knew it wasn't by Pink Floyd.... it was the name I could come up with when you asked.
8. What are your final thoughts about music?
Me - I think it is important that everyone has music in their life, whether they create their own music or enjoy that of others. Music is very enriching in life.
Jen - I don't see having music in your life as being very important. Music is a form of entertainment as is the television.
Me - I don't know about that because I have songs that bring me right back to a part of my life when I listen to them.
Jen - And the television can do the exact same thing. Like watching the Simpsons brings me right back to my childhood... Music is not an important part of my life it never has been and the same goes for the television.

Nana Mizuki was the #5 Billboard artist in Japan in 2010. All the others are from Japan except Jane Zhang and Alan who are Chinese. Boa is South Korean, but she is popular in Japan and the USA.
I suggest going to Youtube and watching Nana Mizuki "Pray"Live, May'n"Northern Cross"Live, anything from FictionJunction Live or PV, and anything from Jane Zhang or Alan.
As far as classic rock, I like Spirit, Tranquility, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, to name a few.

Not a big fan of the Eagles, Pink Floyd, or John Mellencamp, but they all had some good songs. I like classic rock n' roll the best, but have recently developed an interest in J-POP and J-Rock, as well as K-POP and K-Rock. I like Nana Mizuki, May'n, FictionJunction, Savage Genius, Dreams Come True, Jam Project, Sound Horizon, Alan, BoA, and Jane Zhang to name a few.
